How Our Counselors Are Trained

At Rock House Center, every counselor is carefully selected and trained to guide clients through a consistent, structured process designed to bring real and lasting change.

Because our approach is distinct, we take intentional steps to ensure each counselor is fully prepared before working independently with clients.

A Process That Starts with Personal Transformation

Before training others, each counselor has first walked through the same process themselves.

This includes completing the full Motive Transition Therapy® (MTT) experience as a client, engaging deeply with the process from a personal level. As a result, each counselor carries their own story of transformation through the Rock House Center process, grounding their work in real experience rather than theory.

This foundation allows our counselors to guide others with clarity, understanding, and authenticity, while remaining attentive to God’s leading throughout the counseling process.

Training also includes in-depth study and application of biblical principles through structured material designed to support transformation at the heart level.

Guided Training and Supervised Experience

Counselors then move into a structured training process where they observe, then assist, and finally lead real counseling sessions under supervision.

Before working independently with clients, each counselor completes over 350 hours of guided training, observation, and supervised counseling experience.

This includes:

• Observing real counseling program sessions from start to finish

• Participating in guided debriefs with experienced supervisors

• Leading counseling sessions with direct oversight

• Demonstrating consistency and clarity in applying the process

This phase ensures that every counselor is equipped to apply the process confidently and consistently in real-life situations.

Motive Transition Therapy® (MTT) Certification

MTT is the core counseling process used at Rock House Center.

Before being released as an MTT counselor, each candidate:

• Completes the full MTT process personally

• Completes hundreds of hours of structured training and supervised counseling experience

• Observes full counseling programs led by experienced counselors

• Co-leads counseling sessions under supervision

• Leads a full counseling program with oversight and feedback

This ensures that every counselor is fully prepared to guide clients step by step through the process with clarity and consistency.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Certification

IOP is a structured, extended counseling format designed to provide deeper and longer-term support.

Before being released as an IOP counselor:

• A certified MTT counselor co-leads an entire 20-week IOP program

• The counselor must demonstrate mastery of MTT Concepts and the MTT Program

• The counselor works alongside a fully certified IOP counselor throughout the entire process

This stage ensures readiness to guide clients through more extended care with stability and confidence.

Divine Needs Parenting (DNP) Certification

Divine Needs Parenting (DNP) is a continuation process that supports ongoing growth, particularly in the area of parenting and relational leadership after initial counseling work is complete.

As part of training:

• A certified MTT counselor observes a full DNP program live

• This includes a 7-week process with two-hour sessions

• The focus is on helping individuals apply heart-level change within the context of parenting and family relationships

• Parents are equipped to apply and model MTT concepts in everyday situations, helping guide and develop their children with clarity and consistency

This stage helps counselors understand how transformation continues beyond the initial counseling experience and how to guide families toward lasting stability and growth.

Developing Practical Counseling Skills

Throughout training, counselors develop the ability to:

• Listen without taking on the burden of a client’s pain

• Communicate clearly and effectively

• Stay grounded regardless of emotional intensity

• Keep the process on track while responding to each individual

• Maintain healthy boundaries while showing care and compassion

Ongoing Growth and Accountability

Training doesn’t end once a counselor begins working with clients.

Our counselors continue to grow through:

• Regular supervision and feedback

• Personal spiritual growth and development

• Periodic review of effectiveness and client outcomes

• Ongoing participation in guided sessions to strengthen their work

This ensures that every counselor continues to provide care that is consistent, effective, and aligned with our approach.

What This Means for You

No matter which counselor you work with, you can expect:

• A clear and structured process

• A consistent experience across every session

• A counselor who is prepared to guide you step by step

• Care that focuses on lasting, heart‑level change

You won’t need to figure this out on your own. Our counselors are equipped to walk with you with clarity, steadiness, and care from the very beginning.
