Explore the Life-Changing Story of Rock House Center
Rock House Center was founded in 2006 by John and Beth Murphy to help Christians draw upon their faith for solutions to difficult life issues. That same year, John published the first edition of Be Transformed – New Life Awaits and began developing the one‑of‑a‑kind biblical counseling process now known as Motive Transition Therapy®. Today, Rock House Center serves thousands of individuals through one‑on‑one counseling and church‑based programs, including a movement launched in Kenya in 2010 that continues to transform hearts across multiple African nations.
The Development of Motive Transition Therapy®
Motive Transition Therapy® begins with the premise that spiritual wellbeing is the foundation of mental health and that every life issue can be improved by relying on biblical principles. The therapy closely follows a curriculum version of Be Transformed – New Life Awaits, shaped through decades of working with individuals facing mental health challenges, addiction, relationship struggles, and more. The approach continues to be refined through new inspiration and systematic evaluation of our day‑to‑day experiences helping others.
A Growing Team and Expanding Reach
The Rock House Center team is led by John and Beth, who left careers in business and lay ministry to develop and deliver Motive Transition Therapy®. Together, they have created a training and certification process that equips counselors to provide in‑person or online support to clients across the United States and around the world. This broad platform is built on a referral network of grateful clients, company employee assistance programs (EAPs), and church member assistance programs. Rock House Center’s counseling services address a wide array of mental and behavioral health concerns, including anxiety, depression, addiction, marriage, and parenting.
Intensive Support for Complex Challenges
In addition to traditional counseling, Rock House offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) counseling with one-on-one support for chronic mental and behavioral health challenges such as addiction, eating disorders, PTSD and other more severe conditions. Clients often come to Rock House IOP upon discharge from a psychiatric hospital or treatment facility as an alternative to a half-way house or other residential treatment options. For many of these clients, the decision to come to Rock House is often a lifeline when conventional mental health options fail them. You can read their testimonials on our site, along with many others.
