Many people live in a constant loop of striving for approval—at work, in relationships, even in ministry. The desire to be seen, valued, and affirmed can quietly become an idol. When our worth depends on others, we lose peace and become vulnerable to rejection and insecurity.
Scripture reminds us:
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?” (Galatians 1:10)
God offers a better way. When we love Him above all else, we receive our worth from the One who never changes. His love is not performance-based. It’s unconditional, eternal, and freeing.
When approval is your idol, you’ll constantly adjust who you are to meet others’ expectations. But when God is your source, you can walk in confidence, knowing you are fully known and fully loved.
Ask yourself:
Do I feel anxious when others disapprove of me?
Do I change my behavior to gain acceptance?
Do I feel empty when I’m not affirmed?
If so, it’s time to shift your heart. Repent of seeking approval more than God’s presence. Invite Him to be your source of identity.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27:1)
