Love God More Than Control: Let Go and Trust

Control feels safe—until it doesn’t. We try to manage outcomes, protect ourselves from pain, and ensure everything goes “right.” But control is an illusion. It leads to anxiety, fear, and exhaustion.

God calls us to something better:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)

When we love control more than God, we live in constant tension. We fear what might happen, replay conversations, and obsess over decisions. But when we love God first, we can release control and rest in His sovereignty.

Letting go doesn’t mean giving up—it means trusting the One who sees the whole picture. It means believing that His plan is better than ours and that His peace is available even when life feels uncertain.

Ask yourself:

  • Do I feel anxious when things don’t go as planned?

  • Do I struggle to delegate or trust others?

  • Do I replay outcomes in my mind, wishing I’d done more?

If so, it’s time to surrender. Repent of loving control more than God. Invite Him to lead, and ask for peace that surpasses understanding.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)
