When life feels painful or overwhelming, escape is tempting. We turn to entertainment, food, social media, or habits that numb the discomfort. But escape doesn’t heal—it only delays the heart work God wants to do.
Scripture says:
“Everything is permissible for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.” (1 Corinthians 6:12)
When we love escape more than God, we avoid the very transformation He offers. We miss the opportunity to grow, heal, and experience His peace. Distraction becomes a false refuge, and our hearts remain restless.
God invites us to face life with Him—not to run from it. When we love Him first, we find courage to confront pain, wisdom to navigate challenges, and peace that sustains us.
Ask yourself:
What do I turn to when I feel overwhelmed?
Do I avoid silence or stillness?
Do I feel anxious when I’m not distracted?
If so, it’s time to surrender. Repent of loving escape more than God. Invite Him into the discomfort and let His presence bring healing.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
