Achievement is celebrated in our culture. We’re taught to strive, perform, and prove our value through success. But when achievement becomes an idol, it leads to burnout, perfectionism, and a distorted sense of worth.
God’s love isn’t earned—it’s received.
“It is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose.” (Philippians 2:13)
When we love achievement more than God, we live in fear of failure. We measure ourselves by accomplishments and feel unworthy when we fall short. But God invites us to rest in His grace.
Loving God above all means trusting that your value isn’t in what you do—it’s in who He says you are. You are chosen, loved, and called—not because of your résumé, but because of His mercy.
Ask yourself:
Do I feel anxious when I’m not productive?
Do I equate success with self-worth?
Do I struggle to rest or slow down?
If so, it’s time to realign. Repent of loving achievement more than God. Receive His grace and let Him define your worth.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
