Why Can’t I Trust God? Exposing the Lies That Block Peace

Trusting God should feel natural for a believer—but for many, it’s a daily struggle. The question isn’t whether God is trustworthy; it’s whether we believe He is. And that belief is often shaped by lies we’ve internalized from childhood, painful experiences, or cultural distortions.

At Rock House Center, we’ve seen how the inability to trust God is rooted in false beliefs about His character. Lies like “God doesn’t care,” “He’s punishing me,” or “He’s distant” create emotional barriers that block peace and intimacy with Him.

In the podcast “Why Can’t I Trust God?”, Beth shares the story of a 7-year-old girl who believed her mother loved cigarettes and murder mysteries more than her. That heartbreaking perception planted a lie: “I’m not worth loving.” As she grew older, that lie shaped her view of God—making Him seem just as indifferent and unreliable.

But God’s Truth tells a different story. Scripture says, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Trust begins when we reject the lie and embrace the Truth of who God is—a loving Father who is always present, always faithful, and always working for our good.

Healing comes when we stop trying to control outcomes and start resting in God’s character. Trust isn’t built on circumstances—it’s built on Truth. And that Truth sets us free.
